Building a Solid Foundation by Re-Investing in Your Business
When you have built up the courage to dive into Internet Marketing and take action with whatever business model you choose to pursue, your initial business decisions will be the most important decisions you will make. The can ultimately end up sending you in the direction that will be littered with failure after failure or highlighted with success after success. This is why it is so important to remember that succeeding in business requires a very disciplined skill of managing you money wisely. The best advice I can give is...
Do not be frivolous with the money you make from your efforts in online marketing. Be very conservative in terms of spending. Initially you need to spend every single penny on something that benefits your business.
The hugest mistake you can make is thinking that you need the latest and greatest of everything. You will need the basics: a GMail account; a hosting account; a domain; a PayPal account and a computer with a reliable internet connection.
Beyond that every single penny should be spent on building your promotions up. Think of it in terms of ROI (Return On Investment). If you spend $50 per month on advertising, how much are you truly gaining in return? Broken down into simpler terms what is the direct benefit of the money you are spending?
Are you gaining 10 new subscribers per month to your email list? Are you making a dozen Clickbank sales per month? If so how much did you earn in commissions? The real question is how long is the benefit from your investment going to last? Can you repeat the successes you had through that $50 investment?
If not then you have a very big problem. One and done sales are not a good foundation for the long term success of your business. What will benefit your business more is to look for ways to create long term revenues from a single effort. How do you do this? Focus your efforts on tasks such as list building so you can sell to these potential customers again and again.
Put more thought into the types of campaigns you consider promoting. Do you want to make a single sale only to never see that customer again? Of course not. Look for as many affiliate programs as you can find that are highly reputable programs, with recurring commissions. Keep gaining commissions from a sale by choosing an affiliate program that has a rock solid reputation ultimately leading to a low churn rate.
Take that same strategy and apply it to traffic generation. When looking for methods to generate click-throughs, focus on strategies that will have traffic coming into your site for the long term, and not the short term. Article Marketing is one method of creating long term traffic. Search Engine Marketing is another method of creating long term traffic. The key to building a solid foundation for your business is to evaluate every single thing you do, from advertising to business models so you know that the effort you put into the initial phases of your business will continue to work for months or years to come. Create a system for everything you do. That way you can apply the wash, rinse, repeat strategy to your business in the end leaving you with zero worries in terms of if it will work or not.
